This is not for those wanting pretty tunes, vacuous plots and happy endings. It is not just the name that confronts. The script deals with many of the issues that face people in modern society. It could almost be described as an Australian “Rent”, although unlike that production it doesn’t seem to focus on one issue.
The music is strong and interesting and certainly gets the message across. Some songs have the potential to haunt after the production is over and all are emotive. Definitely more like a rock opera than a musical.
The cast is uniformly strong and each of them engages the audience’s emotions at some stage. Abbie Cardwell as Red is accessible and easy to identify with, her rendition of Eulogy is haunting. As her live-in lover Jack, Andre? Eikmeier is likeable and fallible, an everyman. Jack’s mate Adam, Alexander Jenkins, is the geek, the IT wizard in love with the mysterious Belle. Quiet, unassuming, Jenkins makes this a sympathetic character. As Belle, who earns her money with a phone sex line, Lisa Sontag could have overplayed. Instead she delivered a vulnerable believable portrayal of a girl alone.
Sean Peter’s music holds it all together and Geoff Crowhurst’s tight direction delivers a thoughtful and thought provoking piece that reflects the issues affecting the younger members of our society. The soundtrack is strong and unforgiving, supporting the actors and painting the scenes.
The set deserves a special mention as its multi layers worked well and the combination of audio visual effects enhanced the action in many spots. In all this is something new that deserves a look, but be warned the ending may not be what you expect.

A Recording Blog – part 1 |
Big news in EF land – we have a cast, a show, and I’ve started the recording process.
We finalised our cast a couple of weeks ago, and I’m thrilled to welcome Lisa Sontag, and Alex Jenkins, to join workshop alumni Andre Eikmeier and Abbie Cardwell as the Everything's Fucked cast
After a couple of weeks of finalising script, keys with the cast, pre-production, stemming each track off to audio, and madly charting, I have started the massive process of recording the EF soundtrack. We began on the 12th of Feb, with legendary drummer Glenn Wilson. Glenn has played on SCAM and The Pink Files, and it was great to get him back in the studio. A great player and a great guy. We spent a week on the drums, and they sound wicked.
We were joined by another SCAM alumni, Cameron Undy at the end of the week to record a few songs with bass and drums together. For me finally hearing On the Bus played live, rather than the programmed version was really exciting and worth all the work it has taken to get this show up. We’re recording more bass in the next couple of days, so the “engine” of the score should soon be complete.
Of course, any studio experience would not be the same with out Dodgy Bob Scott at the helm. I’ve known Bob for about as long as I’ve been in Sydney. In that time it’s been an honour to work with Bob and watch him become one of the countries leading freelance engineers. He’s one of my best friends, and I couldn’t imagine doing EF without him. You can visit his site at Dodgy Sound

Everything's Fucked - A New Musical |
Everything's Fucked opens August 2 at the Adelaide Festival Centre
Winner - Best Writer - db Magazine
Winner - Best Music Theatre - Adelaide Advertiser
"... an exciting and absorbing new piece of theatre with much to say about the modern condition. In a world where too many towers are falling, four diverse young people share a house and search for meaning in their lives. ... Peter and Crowhurst are on the scent of something successful and the pursuit will be fascinating" Matt Byrne - The Advertiser
"Composer/writer Sean Peter has created earthy and realistic characters who sing their fears and hearts' desires through evocative songs accompanied by his own driving music. This is an excellent vehicle for a contemporary story of four young battlers trying to cope in a world that seems increasingly hostile. Not everything's f**ked" David Grybowski db magazine
How do you find something worth believing in, in a world where everything’s fucked?
Jack, Red, Belle and Adam share a house under the flight path in an Australian city somewhere. Jack climbs the corporate beanstalk, while his partner Red is lost in work, faith and life. Belle, half awake, takes sex calls while watching TV, as Adam lives more in his computer than in the real world.
